Lazy Monday evening
So here I sit, putting off the work I have to do. This is very typical of me. I’ve turned the telly on and am watching “Ordinary People,” a movie I saw when it first came out in 1980; I was too young to really understand it. I remember that my friend Matt had a big crush on Elizabeth McGovern. What a random memory for my brain to have kept stored for the past 26 years. I’m drinking a non-alcoholic beer (off the sauce until the wedding!). Colin is buzzing around, yelling, “Beeewp!” and annoying Trixie.
I am having one of those moments when I am fully aware that I am blinking. I am also aware that I have arms, these long fleshy appendages dangling from my body. It’s making me laugh. Did it work? Are you also now aware that you are blinking and that you have arms dangling from your body? And that despite your binocular vision, you can still see your nose sitting there on your face, from two different angles? Do you hate me now?
I’m putting off finishing up the wedding invitations. Just a few more things to do and they can be mailed out tomorrow! Yet here I sit, looking at new blogs (Tomato Diaries, Once More. . . With Feeling, Stupid Comics, Brian’s Adventures in Findlay, Ohio), watching Mary Tyler Moore play an disturbed plastic bitch, and dragging my feet.
Dang. This is a really heavy movie. Elizabeth McGovern was pretty cute in her little preppy yolk sweater and long tartan skirt!
Okay, to work!
