Tonight’s dinner
I thought I would share what I am cooking for tonight’s dinner via photos. It’s a wonderful recipe I’ve made before, Rigatoni with Five Lillies & Ricotta Salata, via Orangette’s blog. It has a few things I love best: leeks, carmelized onions, garlic, and pasta! It turned out to be only Four Lillies since no chives were to be found.
Check out the color of the sweet onion, red onion, leeks, garlic, and scallions:

Here’s the salt, parsley, pasta, and carmelized sweet onions, waiting to do their bit:

Here it is, all ready to eat!

In case you were wondering, this is often how I cook, using the laptop in the kitchen; it’s my lazy tree-saving, environmentally-friendly way of following the recipe:

Note the framed, personalized Achewood graphic in the background. If you order a cookbook from the Achewood website, Chris Onstad includes a free drawing! We were so thrilled, we framed it and hung it in the kitchen, like the nerds we are. We often repeat the line he gave the character of Roast Beef the Cat in our drawing for fun:

“I asked for better kibble but they said no you cannot have any.”
