WCB #76: Laser pointer fun!
You know that sound that cats make when they are watching a bird and their lower jaw vibrates while they stutter out a very soft noise? So hard to even describe but you know what I’m talking about! Is there a name for that? Is there a biological reason for that? I can’t think of one but I adore it.
Colin is the champion at making this sound when we get out the Best Toy Ever, the laser pointer. It never fails to crack me up. Here is is, doing That Thing. (and of course, the sound is not quite linked up to the picture, one of YouTube’s drawbacks at times, but you get the idea)
Yep, this is what we do on Saturday mornings in our house. I took another video of Barrett dancing around in a feather boa singing along with Marc Bolan, but I think he would kill me if I posted that! Heh.
See other Felis catus’s doing their thing at Catsynth!

Hee! My puddums will sit at the balcony window, squeaking in unison at the magpies. It’s so endearing, yet strangely so, since I think it’s actually an expression of blood lust. You know, kind of a cat version of, “Magpie. Ack. Must. Kill. Magpie. Can’t. Speak.”
LOL. Too cute! My kitties love their laser pointer too.
not sure how this fits in with the above, but … my cat that has always been an indoor cat does that (and it’s the funniest!), but my cat that lived on the streets for a while before I got her (and has probably actually hunted for food) does not. i vote with jeci, since, in that scenario, lola may have that great excitement, while trinx could just be blowing it off - “eh, been there, done that, where’s the human with the can o’ food?”
hahaha, what!?
Heh. Jeci nailed it. It is most definitely easily translated into bloodthirsty statements such as “Ack.Will.Murder.By.Gruesome.Death.Bite.”
Maybe it is known as catckling?
