Eat Real Food Challenge, Day 7

Wow, day 7 of this challenge and only 7 more to go. I think I’m going to extend this to one month. I’m having too much fun!

Breakfast: leftover corn grits, coffee with whole milk.

Lunch: Hmm, what did I have? Oh yeah, a salmon burger patty (no bread) on a bed of mixed greens and horseradish on top. Some mozzarella. Also, I think I cheated by eating a few tortilla chips, which I crammed into my mouth to prevent a low blood sugar situation that came upon me quite suddenly. The chips had canola oil as the only non “real” ingredient (I’m sure last night’s tortilla chips were the same) so I have no idea if that is cheating or not. Thoughts?

Dinner: I made this soup, which I’ve had bookmarked for ages, substituting wild cod for red snapper. Ate it with a piece of rye toast. Popcorn for a treat while watching “The Sound of Music” and a couple of glasses of tasty, citrus-y chardonnay. I bought it because it was on sale and I liked the label, but it was very good. I recommend it!

Observation: no observation today. I was too busy vacuuming, doing laundry, and having my thumb gored by a well-meaning dog on a walk this afternoon. It still hurts and I’m hoping it doesn’t turn into some sort of infected mess. I doubt it will though. Dog bites, if you can call this a bite, are usually fine–it’s those cat bites you gotta watch out for! Goodnight!

Yummers!! That soup recipe looks fabulous. You’re doing great on this experiment, I must say!

Hope the doggy bite is OK????

It is okay, Sher, thank goodness! It’ll take a few days to heal, though. And that soup is very good–quite spicy and filling.
