Eat Real Food Project, revisit
Yep, I wrote “revisit” instead of “revisited,” because that is what I think I need to do: revisit it!
I have been inspired to get my shit together on this when I read Schnozz’s latest entry, then saw Jeci’s comment under it, then re-read the Michael Pollan article she linked to (which I had introduced to Jeci originally), and THEN re-read all of my Eat Real Food Project entries that I made in February.
When did I veer off of course on this? Crap.
Don’t get me wrong, I think I eat healthier than most people I know. I have the advantage of loving to cook and if you love to cook, I believe you are halfway there. It’s the hara hachi bu wagon I sorta fell off of, which is hilarious, given that my most recent post was all about bento box lunches. I mean, the bento box lunch IS hara hachi bu at work! I don’t necessarily need to make Japanese food to go into my little bento boxes. Pack the little portion-control containers with leftover homemade food and there ya have it. I need to use the tools I have sitting in front of my face! Big ole DURRRR. Sometimes I have a problem not being able to see outside the (bento) box.
I also have not been good at really checking out ingredients on processed food. I’ve slipped back into munching on a snack of tortilla chips right when I get home before cooking dinner because I’m so damn hungry I can’t think of anything but food. I’ve–gasp!–been using fat-free half and half for my coffee! Sob! Forgive me, dear readers!
Time to get back on track. And of course, the holiday season is the PERFECT TIME TO DO THIS, what with all of the parties and the goodies and the dinners. Ahem. Crazy as a loon, that’s me!

Hey, I’m certain your great-grandmother would have recognized eggnog and holiday goodies as food. At least the homemade goodies, and those are the best ones!
I was completely in awe of your real food quest the first time, and I will be glued to your entries if you try this again!
So the ingrediant in Pioneer woman’s French breakfast puffs should count as real food: Crisco, eggs, flour, sugar, nutmeg, salt, baking soda. Cooked then rolled in melted butter then cinnamon and sugar! Have made them twice and they are YU-MEE!!! Better be prepared, cuz you is getting some, hopefully fresh!!!
Now, now! I didn’t say I was doing this challenge all over again necessarily! I just feel I have veered away from some important aspects of it, particularly with portion control. But heck, maybe I will do it again, just for fun. We shall see!
